Birds Observed This Past Week in the Brainerd Lakes Area
If you are wondering where the birds went, please don’t be alarmed. Many of the birds that visited our feeders earlier this spring are still here but are now nesting and finding many of the natural foods.
Birds being observed and or reported within the Brainerd lakes area include. Bald Eagle, Osprey, Sharp-shinned Hawk, Peregrine Falcon, Turkey Vulture, Red-tailed Hawk, American Kestrel, Broad-wing Hawk, Trumpeter Swan, Common Loon, Killdeer, Great-blue Heron, Ring-billed Gull, Sandhill Crane, Bobolink, Black-billed Cuckoo, Yellow Warbler, American Redstart, Golden-winged Warbler, Mallard, Hooded Merganser, Ring-neck Duck, Woodduck, Blue-winged Teal, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, Whip-poor-Will, Common Yellowthroat, Eastern Towhee, Chipping Sparrow, Ruby-throated Hummingbird, Scarlet Tanager, Baltimore Oriole, Eastern Phoebe, Least Flycatcher, Chestnut-sided Warbler, Gray Catbird, Cedar Waxwing, Cliff Swallow, Eastern Kingbird, Great-crested Flycatcher, Tree Swallow, Pileated Woodpecker, Northern Flicker, Red-headed Woodpecker and Ovenbird.  Happy Birding!
Now is a great time to think about bird scaping your yard to help attract more colorful birds!  Ask for native fruiting trees and shrubs to plant around the house or cabin to bring in more birds naturally!
Please also remember many of our Common Loons are nesting, so be careful and cautious when boating around nesting loons.
